Samsung Galaxy S10e Review

Samsung Galaxy S10e Review

The Samsung Galaxy S10e has almost everything its bigger siblings do, in a more hand-friendly form factor at a lower price. It even one-ups the more expensive Galaxy phones with a better-located fingerprint sensor and a more case-friendly form factor.

Battery life on the XR is about the same and raw performance is measurably higher, but that’s all. The S10e impresses with one the best in class AMOLED displays, it has a pretty good ultra-wide camera, while the iPhone XR relies on one unit, and the Galaxy S10e still offers the option to unlock it with a fingerprint.

The Galaxy S10e has the smallest screen of Samsung’s new models, but it’s still large enough at 5.8 inches and is much easier to hold in one hand than Samsung’s larger models. This means it’s easier to reach things on the screen while you’re holding a coffee in one hand and trying to text with the other, or if you’re like me and prone to fumbling a large phone while holding it over your head at night.

Samsung Galaxy S10e Pros & Cons :

The Reasons Why Samsung Galaxy S10e Is In The List Of Best Smartphones 2019 –

  • Fast phone you can use one-handed
  • Superb camera for the size and price
  • Wireless PowerShare is useful
  • Amazing screen color and clarity
  • Industry-leading processor and modem.
  • Decent battery life, better than the Galaxy S10
  • Outstanding display

  • Impeccable build quality, premium materials, great colors

Reasons Why You Should Avoid It-

  • Dual-camera compromise

The cheapest Galaxy S10 is also the smallest. At 5.8 inches, the S10e is tiny by modern standards. It’s even smaller than the 5.5-inch Pixel 3, though because of the Galaxy’s near-complete lack of bezels and placement of the front-facing camera inside the display, the S10e’s screen manages to be slightly larger than that of Google’s flagship.

Samsung Galaxy S10e Price –

Samsung Galaxy S10e deals have a starting price of $749.99 – that’s $150 less than the Galaxy S10 and $250 less than the Samsung Galxy S10 Plus. So why does the S10e have a lower price tag? The Galaxy S10e stands for “essential” because it has all the basic features of its bigger brothers just with a smaller screen size. It features a 5.8-inch display, yet still packs in 6GB of RAM and a minimum of 128GB storage. From there the S10e also boasts a powerful double-lens camera on the back and 3,100mAh battery that claims to last all day – fantastic for such an affordable smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy S10e Design –

The S10e’s Infinity-O camera-in-display may be off-putting to some (I find it less egregious than the notch), there’s a lot to like about the S10e’s design. None of the fit and finish of the S10 and S10 Plus has been sacrificed in this entry-level Galaxy; the S10e feels like a premium product, only smaller. And the right customers will see its more pocketable and compact dimensions as a massive boon in an era of ever-growing flagships.

As previously stated, one of the Galaxy S10e’s more attractive features might, ironically, be its smaller size. As main flagships get ever-larger, a contingent of consumers have steadily gone for smaller phones – just look at the popularity of the iPhone SE – and the S10e is as manageable as top-tier phones get with a width of 2.75 inches. (Curiously, the iPhone XS is the smallest of its generation, and the S10e is smaller than that phone by a hair.)

Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus Review

The S10e otherwise looks like a shrunken version of its pricier siblings, with a few exceptions. Samsung didn’t include the Galaxy line’s Infinity Edge tapered display in this less expensive model, so you’ll have to accept a flat front screen with more noticeable bezels.

The S10e’s left edge has the volume rocker, which is responsive and functional. Below it sits the much-disliked Bixby button, but fear not: Samsung has gamely allowed you to finally use it to activate other apps. There is a caveat: the button functionality has been split into single and double presses, and one of those must activate Bixby.

Here Are Some Points –

  • The fingerprint sensor is located on the right side of the phone, so left-handers will probably have trouble reaching it with their index fingers.
  • It’s located a bit too high for my liking — I’ve had to adjust the way I pick up my phone so I can ensure I’m able to reach it every time.
  • Because of its location, I’ve found myself taking a ton of accidental screenshots when turning the volume down. It’s very easy to hit the power and volume down button at the same time.
  • Finally, you need to make sure to cover the entire sensor with your fingerprint, not just a portion of it. It’s harder to get used to than you’d think

Samsung Galaxy S10e Display –

The 5.8-inch AMOLED display lives up to the Galaxy S name, with bright colors and crisp detail. If you don’t quite like the color balance, you can tinker with an easy fix called Vivid Mode, which does what it says on the box and lets you further tweak it to be a warmer (more red) or cooler (more blue) picture. If even that isn’t enough, you can tinker with the RGB levels individually.

samsung galaxy s10e display

the S10e has a single 2280 x 1080 (438 ppi) resolution setting. Samsung sets this as the default for its flagship phones, but both the S10 and S10 Plus max out at 3040 x 1440 for a higher ~550 ppi. One other minor difference between the models: the S10e has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on front and back, while its bigger siblings have had their front display’s glass upgraded to Gorilla 6.

In this default state, the S10e covers 148 percent of the sRGB space. That’s ahead of the iPhone XS’ 123 percent, and those who prefer perkier colors shouldn’t fear, as Samsung has included a Vivid option with the S10e that ratchets up those hues into the stratosphere. And no matter what profile you use, the S10e’s screen comes HDR10+ certified for excellent contrast and visibility in shadows and highlights alike.

Samsung Galaxy S10e Camera –

samsung galaxy s10e camera

Rear cameras:

  • 12MP wide-angle sensor, Super Speed Dual Pixel autofocus, OIS, 1.4μm pixels, 77-degree field-of-view, dual aperture ƒ/1.5 and ƒ/2.4 apertures
  • 16MP ultra-wide sensor, 1.0μm pixels, 123-degree field-of-view, ƒ/2.2 aperture

Front camera:

  • 10MP sensor, Dual Pixel autofocus, 1.22μm pixels, 80-degree field-of-view, ƒ/1.9 aperture

Here’s where things start to differ even more with the Galaxy S10 line. With the Galaxy S10e, you get a dual-camera setup on the rear, complete with a 12MP wide-angle sensor and a 16MP ultra-wide sensor. The S10 and S10 Plus both have an extra 12MP telephoto lens around back. Be sure to check out our Galaxy S10 Plus review for details on that.

Samsung Galaxy S10e Performance –

The S10e especially shines when gaming. Playing PUBG Mobile at fully maxed settings was no sweat for the phone, as the framerate never dipped noticeably throughout my session. And arcade racer Asphalt 9 Legends — one of the most demanding titles on mobile today with its extensive lighting effects, motion blur and meticulously modeled cars — ran smoother on Samsung’s device than on any other smartphone I’ve used yet.
The S10e’s impressive showing on 3DMark’s Ice Storm Unlimited graphics test bore this out, with a result of 5,616. That result easily tops the iPhone XS at 4,244, demonstrating that while Apple still leads in raw processing grunt, Samsung maintains an edge in graphics.

Expect fast LTE performance from the Galaxy S10. According to testing from Ookla Speedtest, the S10e averaged 49.18 Mbps, compared to just 33.17 Mbps for the iPhone XR.

Samsung Galaxy S10e Battery –

Samsung must have packed the Galaxy S10e to the absolute limit with battery power. At 3,100 mAh, the handset’s battery eclipses the 3,000-mAh unit inside the Galaxy S9, even though the S9 was a slightly larger phone.

The S10e also charges wirelessly at a quicker rate than any Galaxy before it, thanks to Samsung’s new 12W system.
the S10e can do something most other phones can’t — it can wirelessly charge your other devices. Samsung’s new Wireless PowerShare feature, found across the S10 lineup, transforms the S10e into a makeshift Qi induction pad, and it’s tremendously easy to use. Simply switch it on via the Quick Settings toggles, flip the phone over and rest something on top of it, like Samsung’s new Galaxy Buds.

How long does the Samsung s10e battery last –

the S10e’s slight capacity advantage over the S9, the new handset couldn’t beat its predecessor in our battery test. The S10e died after 9 hours and 44 minutes of streaming web pages using T-Mobile’s LTE network, which is about an hour less than the S9’s 10:52, but still better than the Pixel 3’s 8:27. The Galaxy S10 Plus, with its significantly larger 4,100 mAh battery, lasted 12:35, while the Galaxy S10 (powered by a 3,400 mAh battery) held out for 10:19. In other words, don’t expect the battery life you get from other S10 models.

Is Samsung Galaxy 10e Waterproof –

Yes Samsung Galaxy S10e is Waterproof.

Galaxy S10e, S10, and S10+ feature an IP68 rating, the highest mobile device standard for water and dust resistance.

Samsung Galaxy S10e Is Waterproof

It’s imperative to understand the distinction between waterproof and water resistant first. The former would suggest that a device is completely protected against water without any caveats. That’s not the case. Any device with an IP rating is actually water resistant and not waterproof in the true sense of the word.

The Galaxy S10 is indeed water resistant. Samsung’s new flagships have an IP68 rating. They can be submerged in 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes. The IP rating on Samsung’s smartphones has evidently improved over the past few years.
